Within Ribbons is a fragmented reflection, and potentially a mask, of the truest version of oneself. None of the pathways, like fingerprints, are repeated. This further drives the pursuit of self-discovery. The smooth intertwining bands reveal, or shield, a limitless inner space within colorful backgrounds.
The backgrounds can symbolize the many ways we can approach life and its challenges. The closeness of the ribbons may be seen as a reminder to be mindful of the impact our decisions can have on others and the world around us, and also reflect the interconnectedness of all things.

Throughout my years of crafting and illustration using various mediums, I formed an intricate two-dimensional weaving of ribbons on an 18 x 24-in. sheet in 2015. That original black and white image later gave birth to the first diptych of the Within Ribbons series (“Within Ribbons: Until We Meet”) in 2017, comprising two 8 x 8 in. canvas panels, also in black and white. Color was introduced in 2022 by the three 5 x 7 in. works “Blush”, “Sunlight”, and “Daydream”.
Prints of works available soon.
