Shawntae Brown, Bachelor of Arts – Graphic Design, Southeastern Oklahoma State University

I consider my art to be a visual diary. Both my paintings and pencil portraits stand as records of personal reflection as I capture moments of growth, memory, and shared emotion. Through layered mark-making and form, my work documents where I have been, what I have been taught, and how those experiences continue to shape my creative voice.

The pieces in my acrylic series Within Ribbons reflect my journey as an artist, as a person, and as an Oklahoma native who has learned so much from Nebraska. The winding, intertwining organic shapes serve as reminders that life is nonlinear, and that there is always something new to learn and another path to be explored.
